John A. Warner

John Andrew Warner “Big John,” beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away into the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 16, 2023. John was born Jan. 11, 1957 in Tecumseh, Mich. to Robert and Marilyn Warner.

John worked as a maintenance manager for several trucking companies throughout his career including Penske Truck Leasing and FedEx in Chicago. On June 21, 1992, he married Lynne and together they made a happy home filled with love and memories for themselves and their family. Upon his retirement, John and Lynne moved to Forney, Texas to be near family where John found joy and contentment serving in his church and spending time with friends and family, especially the grandchildren.

John was an avid antique collector and enjoyed restoring antique telephones, cash registers, and railroad lanterns. In his home was his “Man Cave” where he displayed his many antique treasures. Many of his meticulous restorations were given as gifts to those he loved most.

Along with being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, John was a tireless and selfless servant of the Lord. He and Lynne were active and faithful members of First Baptist Church in Forney where Big John was often seen helping, working, and making everyone feel welcome. He was involved in many ministries including the Iron Man Ministry, Monday Morning Men’s Group, and the Wednesday night kitchen crew. John was also a member of the church’s security ministry, the “Red Shirts” where his easy smile and watchful eye helped to make every member and visitor feel welcome and safe in all parts of the church campus. He and Lynne were members of the Living the Word Sunday School class where they enjoyed learning and applying God’s word to their lives and making sure His light shone forth in everything they did.

A man whose height was only surpassed by his love for his Lord, his family and his friends, Big John will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all whose lives he touched.

He leaves to carry on his legacy of unconditional love his wife of over 30 years, Lynne Warner, of Forney; son, John A. Ferris, IV and wife, Heather, of Forney; grandchildren, June, Sarah, Faith and John, V (Jack); brother, Jerrald Warner and wife, Francine, of Tecumseh; nephews, Robert Warner and Andrew Warner of Tecumseh, along with other extended family, his church family and a host of friends.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 21 at First Baptist Church of Forney in the Forum. His family received friends beginning at 10 a.m. to service time. Interment was at College Mound Cemetery.
