Joy Louise Dalton

The angels came for Joy Louise Dalton at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the age of 93. She went peacefully at Hospice of the Valley in Arizona. Joy was born on March 12, 1928, in Wheaton, Ill. She was the daughter of James and Ada (Simms) Westwood. She lived in Tecumseh for 40 years and has resided in Arizona for the past 20 years.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gladys and Edith, affectionately called Cis; and her beloved husband, Frank, who died in 1984. She and Frank were active in the Tecumseh Players and other clubs in the 1960’s and 70’s. She enjoyed many years of golf, competitive bridge and mahjong with friends in both Michigan and Arizona.

Joy is survived by her three sons, Steve (Shirley) of Tecumseh, Scott (Tracey) of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Shawn (Maureen) of Goodyear, Ariz. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jon (Capri) Dalton and Kim (Nathaniel) Johnson of Michigan; Jenni (Robert) Bermick of Iowa; Bradley (Kristy) Dalton, Keith (Ashley) Dalton, Brian (Lynn) Dalton, and Breanna (Preston) White of Arizona; Madison (Austin) Warden of Florida; and Brett Dalton and Adam (Lindsey) Dalton of North and South Carolina, respectively. She also had 12 great-grandchildren: Mathias, Spencer of Michigan; Jeffrey Arnett of Massachusetts; Olivia, Bradley Jr, Grace, Alice, Harper, Hadley of Arizona; Eleanore of Florida; and Blake and Cameron of Iowa. She will be cremated and her ashes will be spread with Frank’s on their property in Colorado. No memorial service is planned. Joy will be missed by all.
