Julie Robert

Julie Robert, 59, former Tecumseh resident, died at her home in Englewood, Fla. on January 9, 2022. Daughter of Karl and Alice Robert, Julie was a 1980 graduate of Tecumseh High School. Pursuing her early passion as a dancer, Julie moved to New York City where she worked several jobs in support of her dream, including an extended stay on Wall Street at the New York Stock Exchange. While in New York, she met and married Fabrizio Pallotti, and although the marriage did not last, she and her former husband remained close friends through the years. She would eventually move to the west coast where she opened the legendary Mermaid Café on Highway 101 in Nehalem, Oregon. Julie’s vivacious and outgoing personality helped her create a loving community of friends who remained a close and supportive part of her life until the very end.

Julie was a lifelong, avid reader, thinker, and journal writer. She was both socially conscious and politically aware, and was never afraid to voice her fiery opinions, even if they went against the mainstream. She was someone who was passionate about her views but who also continued to grow and evolve throughout her life. She was a trusted and compassionate friend, and those who took the time to know Julie were always rewarded with her endless energy, her loving embrace, and her willingness to serve. She is survived by her sister, Janice (Desmet), and brother, James.
