Kenneth Dale “JR” VanValkenburg
Kenneth Dale “JR” VanValkenburg, age 62, of Riga, passed away on September 6, 2021 at home. Ken was born Sept. 17, 1958 in Tecumseh, the son of Kenneth Dale and Alice A. (Marks) VanValkenburg, Sr., who preceded him in death.
Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Lenawee County, graduating from Tecumseh High School. He was an Eagle Boy Scout and a member of the Adrian Antique Tractor Club and Engine Association. He also was a family member of the Peckerhead Motor Works.
Ken is survived by his brother, John (Annette) VanValkenburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters, Mary Lou and Linda Lou in infancy; grandparents, John and Louise Marks and Russell and Mary VanValkenburg; and special friends, Reno and Lillion Meining.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Scott Crowe officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Ken may be given to the Riga Fire Department. Condolences to the family may be made online at pursefuneralhome.com.
