Mary Helen Menges

Mary Helen Menges, age 84, of Tecumseh passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022 at the Hospice of Lenawee Home in Adrian surrounded by her family. She was born March 5, 1938 in Marietta, Ga., a daughter of the late William Calvin and Bernice Idell (Hardage) Alexander.

Mary retired from General Motors and was a member of the U.A.W. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh. Mary loved playing cards, going to the casino, shopping and watching her daytime shows. Most important to her was her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her three daughters, Brenda (John) Ruhl of Statham, Ga., Sandy (Jeff) Miller of Clinton and Julie (Brad) Childers of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, John (Ashley) Ruhl, Jr., Kate (John) Weatherford IV, Sarah (William) Weidner, Jason (Kelsey) Miller, Alex (Danielle) Miller, Ashley (Nick) Heise, Brandon (Danielle) Childers and Cody Childers; 17 great-grandchildren, Ace, Claire, Dean, Evan, Millie, Lettie, Maverick, Madden, Boston, Beckham, Kennedy, Mady, Blayne, Dahlia, Lucas, Beau and Gracie; and caregiver, Rhonda Bovee. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Carl Wilson; and siblings, Leonard Alexander, Martha Alexander, Jean Robertson and Evelyn Collins.

Visitation for Mary was held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, Hospice of Lenawee and Shriners Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
