Norma J. Roup

Norma Jean Roup, 88, of Clinton, passed away peacefully at ProMedica Hospital on September 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on May 22, 1935 in Ypsilanti, Mich. She retired from General Motors Willow Run as the first woman skilled trades tool repair technician. She was strong, smart and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, telling stories, and having lunch at Big Boy in Tecumseh where she is well known as “Miss Perfect.”

Norma is survived by her children, Deena (Don) Mapley, Michael (Susana) Roup, Steven (Grace) Roup, Toni (Tim) Ciersezwski, and Dixie (Bob) Wetherell; siblings, Daniel Foster, Patricia (Charlie) Mattis, Vicki (Mike) DeLisle; sister-in-law, Joan Foster; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is greatly missed.

She was preceded by her parents, Elton and Ethel (Wood) Foster; her siblings, Elton “Bud”, Richard “Dick”, Donald and Nancy (Schmidt) Foster; son, David Roup; and grandson, Eric.

At her request, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will be held in her honor at a later date.
