Orbin Herrell

Orbin Herrell age 89, of Tecumseh, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022 at Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital with his loving family by his side. Orbin was born June 10, 1932 at home to Melvin and Laura (Smith) Herrell in Tazewell, Tenn. On January 4, 1952 he married the love of his life, Lucille Yeary, in Tazewell and they shared 68 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2020. 

Orbin worked at Tecumseh Products for approximately 40 years. While working at the Products and in retirement he worked for many years with construction and carpentry. He was a member of Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church, Tecumseh Masonic Lodge #69, and the Jackson Shriners. Orbin, in his free time, also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his children, Linda Herrell and Christene (David) Willis, both of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Kayla (Ronnie) Young, Andrea (Andrew) Kyle, both of Tennessee, and Trevor Willis of Tecumseh; great-grandson, Onnie Young; siblings, Mae Brooks, Fae Morgan and Edith Fultz, all of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Lucille, Orbin was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Laura (Smith) Herrell; son, Frank Herrell; daughter, Judy Herrell; sisters, Gladys Massengill, Leotta Yeary; and brother, Obie Herrell. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 28, at Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church, 407 S. Occidental Hwy., Tecumseh, MI 49286, with Rev. Brian Fath officiating.  Burial followed in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 27, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. A Masonic Memorial Service was performed by the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge #69 F. & A.M. Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in memory of Orbin to the Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church, Tecumseh Masonic Lodge or Jackson Shriners.
