Richard A. Nighswander
Richard was born September 28, 1947 in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of Gilbert and Grace (Harvey) Nighswander. He was a graduate of Tecumseh High School and also received an associate degree from RETS Electronics School in Detroit. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee in Vietnam. He worked for the Budd Company in Clinton and retired from Curly’s Machine Shop as a truck driver.
Richard is survived by his siblings, Nancy (Ernest) Mercer of Lapeer and Milton James (Barbara) Nighswander of Luzerne; nieces, Tammy (Steve) Anderson, Beverly (Craig) Simdon and Peggy Price; nephew, Andrew (Samandra) Nighswander; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Michael Nighswander and Tim Marston.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with family officiating. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Mich. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. preceding the funeral service. Condolences to the family may be made online at pursefuneralhome.com.
