Robert Welton LaPlant

Robert Welton LaPlant, age 77, of Tecumseh passed away on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 at Foundation Park Alzheimer’s Care Center in Toledo.  He was born July 25, 1945 in Sikeston, Mo., son of the late Robert Henry and Minnizelle (Morris) LaPlant. On November 3, 1984 he married Jane Ellen Toburen, they have shared over 37 years together.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Constellation during Vietnam. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and was the former owner of the Macon Golf Club. Bob was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh, Milan JC’s and active in a Corvette club. He was an avid racquetball player and loved golfing and playing pickleball.

Besides his wife, Jane, Bob is survived by two children, Shawn LaPlant of Milan and Carleen (Ryan) LaPlant-Schumacher of Clarksville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Ashely and Alex LaPlant of Milan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Hazel and Dean Fitzgerald.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Bob will be Friday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh. A memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Richard Mortimer officiating with military honors under the auspices of the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.
