Samuel Ward Craig

Samuel Ward Craig, age 97 of Tecumseh, passed away on July 30, 2022 at StoryPointe Senior Living in Saline, Mich. He was born February 24, 1925 in Indiana, Penn., the son of Martin and Margaret (Holstein) Craig.

On August 20, 1949, he married Helen Elizabeth Schimmoller in Fort Wayne, Ind., and she survives.

Sam was retired from Bendix Allied which is now Raytheon Corporation, where he served as an electrical and aerospace engineer.

Sam was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during WWII. He was a member of Tecumseh Kiwanis Club. 

Sam was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Tecumseh.

In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by daughter, Colleen (Dave) Thurston; son-in-law, Ron Sackett; grandchildren, Eric (Beth) Sackett, Elizabeth (Michael Anthony) Schust, Ellen (Matthew) Furtney, Errol (Christy) Sackett, Jennifer (Dave) Ligenfelter, and Dan (Chandler) Thurston; and great-grandchildren, Michael Furtney, Evan Furtney, Haley Schust, Logan Schust, Riley Sackett, Quincy Thurston, and Marlow Thurston. 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Sackett and a great granddaughter, Trinity Sackett.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Covenant Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service, which will begin at 11 a.m., all on Tuesday, Aug. 9. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Tecumseh, with Rev. Richard Mortimer officiating. 

Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, with military honors rendered by Tecumseh American Legion and Tecumseh VFW Funeral Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, Tecumseh American Legion Post #34, or  Carolyn Sackett Memorial Fund at Milan Baptist Church.
