Shirley Jean Judd

Shirley Jean Judd, age 84 of Tecumseh, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at home with her family by her side. She was born January 22, 1938 in Wauseon, Ohio, a daughter of the late Jerald and Bernice (Schang) Larned.  On August 28, 1971 she married Gerald William Judd, they shared over 40 years together until his death on June 2, 2011.

Shirley lived in Tecumseh for over 75 years. She taught in the Dundee and Pontiac school systems until 1980. After teaching she went on to work for the Tecumseh Products Company – International Division before retiring in 1995. Shirley was a former member of the Tecumseh School Board for four years. She was a member of the Britton Congregational Church and their women’s fellowship circle. She loved sports, especially football, following the U of M football team. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and enjoyed spending time with them.

Shirley is survived by her children, Michael (Christine) Hoffman of Adrian, Lenore Judd-Thomas of Lakewood Ranch, Fla. and Eric (Sara Gladysz) Hoffman of Caledonia; brother, Ray (Mary) Larned of Spring Lake; three grandchildren, Victoria Renner, Sean Hoffman and Christian Thomas; five great-grandchildren, Serenity, Aubrey, Gavyn, Gynisus and Gabryle.

Visitation for Shirley will be on Tuesday, May 31 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Schenck officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Britton Congregational Church and the Lenawee Humane Society.
