CARL A. GREENWALD, JR.

Carl A. Greenwald, Jr., 70, of Adrian, died unexpectedly Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Toledo Hospital.  He was born August 2, 1937, in Adrian to Carl A. and Helen C. (Barron) Greenwald.  On August 30, 1958, he married Mary L. Wojtowicz in Clinton, and she survives.

 
He served in the Michigan National Guards and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1954-1962.  Carl had worked for the City of Adrian in the Utilities Department, retiring in 1999.  He was also the owner and operator of Carl’s Floor Care.  He was a member of the Adrian I.O.O.F., the Adrian Evening Lions Club, and the United Steel Workers.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his mother, Rita Greenwald; two sons, Timothy Greenwald of Battle Creek, Michigan and Thomas Greenwald of Adrian; two daughters, Carla Kirschke and her husband, Walter “Bill”, of Adrian and Cynthia Powell and her friend, Harry Earl of Toledo, Ohio; a brother, Larry Greenwald and his wife, Carol, of Adrian; a sister, Sondra Birchfield of Tecumseh; a brother-in-law, James Hague of Jackson; 10 grandchildren, Dan and Tyler Kirschke, Benjamin, David and Mary J. Greenwald and their mother, Gloria, Ryan (Julie) Powell, Kyle Powell, Tyler, Emily, and Trevor Greenwald; and a great-granddaughter, Margaret E. Powell.  

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen C. Barron-Watson; his step-father, Roger Watson; his father, Carl A. Greenwald; and a sister, Carol Hague.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the Anderson Funeral Home with the Reverend Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
