Christopher M. Cunningham

Christopher Michael Cunningham, age 43, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. He was born on December 17, 1982 in Tecumseh, Mich., a son of Paul Alvin and Susan Lynn (Schafer) Cunningham.
Chris was the active goofball of the family. He played golf, rec soccer and baseball in his youngest days, then in high school he added track and field to the soccer. Throughout his life, he spent his days in motion: golf, traveling, fishing. He was a decent construction worker, helping multiple family members with home renovation projects. The attention to detail also made him a shark at euchre and poker. He got into collecting casino chips later in life and spent his last years working with his father going to trade shows until they both retired from the road in the fall of 2025.
Chris is survived by his parents, Susan (Frank) Cunningham-Enos of Onsted, Mich., and Paul Cunningham of Tecumseh; his siblings, Shannon (Justin) Miller of Minneapolis, Minn., Robert Cunningham of Clinton, Mich., and Laura (Adam) Jolliff of Center Line, Mich.; a nephew, Thomas Cunningham of Adrian, Mich., and two nieces, Madelyn and Sophia Miller, both of Minneapolis, Minn. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Madeline Schafer and Charles and Evelyn Cunningham.
A celebration of life for Chris will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Britton on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026 at 12 p.m. with a light lunch to follow. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
