Connie J. Cox

Connie Jeanne (Sheldon) Cox, age 71, of Blissfield, Mich., left this world Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at the Hospice of Lenawee Home in Adrian, Mich. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones as she transitioned to a better place.

Connie was born on January 19, 1953 in Adrian to Harvey L. and Carol M. (Crist) Sheldon, and was raised in the Methodist faith. She graduated from Blissfield High School with the Class of 1971 and went on to attend Davis Business School in Toledo, Ohio.

Connie found her niche in the business world as a trusted employee and account representative at Sunderland Insurance in Tecumseh for over 40 years, and she was well known to many Tecumseh area business owners and residents.

On May 1, 1981 Connie married Charles Michael “Mike” Cox in Adrian. They were fortunate to share over 43 years together. Throughout her life, Connie demonstrated her inner strength time and time again. She and Mike dedicated their lives to their daughter, Dawn, during the 23 years they were blessed to have her in their lives. For many years the family had a permanent site at Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon, Ohio where special memories and lifetime friendships were made.

In more recent years, Connie was happy to return to the family farm in Blissfield, where she and Mike enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She liked relaxing with her knitting and crochet projects. Connie was a softie for Yorkies and had several four-legged family members over the years.

In addition to her husband, Mike, Connie is survived by her siblings, Michael (SueEllen) Sheldon, Bonnie (Robert) Love and Chris Sheldon, wonderful nieces and nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dawn; and sister-in-law, Kathy Sheldon.

Funeral services for Connie will be held on Friday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield, with Connie’s brother, Mike, officiating. There will be a time for visitation from 11 a.m. until the service begins. Connie will be laid to rest at Palmyra Cemetery following the service.
