Constance M. Gonser
Constance Mae Gonser, age 92, passed away at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh, Mich. on September 20, 2024. She was born May 26, 1932, in Saline, Mich., to the late Alwin and Genevieve Gross. She was married to Harrison McCrea ‘Mac” Gonser, and he preceded her in death.
Constance worked for many years as a public-school teacher, primarily in Saline, and then later as a substitute for Tecumseh grade schools. When she wasn’t teaching, she loved doing many different kinds of needlework, and was one of the early members of the Needle Art Guild in Toledo, Ohio. She enjoyed traveling around the country, especially the Smoky Mountains, as well as visiting Holmes County, Ohio, also known as “Amish Country”.
Constance is survived by her daughter, Nancy Mettlach of Hersey, Mich.; nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Brian) Hefferan and Kent (Lisa) Richter, both of Mt. Clemens, Mich., Julie (Randy) Armiak of Saline, and Kevin (Joyce) Gross of Jackson, Mich.; as well as various other nieces and nephews and relatives.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Constance was preceded in death by her sister Collene Richter, and her brother Robert Gross.
At the request of Constance, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be Friday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Linda Farley officiating. Inurnment will be at Brookside Cemetery, in Tecumseh, Mich.
