Couple thank supporters of benefit concert at First Baptist Church

To the Editor,

A benefit concert was held on Saturday, Feb. 27 at First Baptist Church of Tecumseh to help with our medical bills concerning Sharon’s ongoing battle against Lyme Disease. The goal was to raise nearly $4,500, and the goal was joyfully met that evening along with further bake sale contributions the next morning.

The Southern Gospel trio Souls Harbor blessed the concertgoers with their voices, and they were joined by Southern Gospel singer Jerry Garcia throughout the evening. Both of the headliners donated their time, talents and leadership to this extremely successful event, and we are very grateful for their love and kindness. In fact, the idea for this fundraiser was initiated by David, Joy, Ron and Charlene from Souls Harbor, and they were the spark behind the success.

Mary Vance, Glenda House, Valerie Bartenslager and several others helped and donated desserts to the bake sale, and members of the First Baptist Church Diaconate Board decorated and provided refreshments after the concert, especially Janet Champanois, Jennie Rader and John and Karen DeCoster.  Russ and Sandy Hyatt kindly served as greeters, handing out the evening program.

Scores of people donated generously to a Love Offering on behalf of Sharon, and those monies will be used for cutting-edge medical equipment.

Along with the wonderful financial outpouring from the attendees, we were blessed by the generous support of First Baptist Church and New Song Community Church.  We greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to distribute posters to local businesses and churches, which really helped in spreading the word.

Thanks also to the staffs at the Tecumseh Herald and WLEN, who are always so supportive and generous in helping people. We have been blessed, and we are grateful to all who aided us in so many ways. As we move forward, we deeply appreciate any and all prayers for Sharon as she continues to strive for healing from the harsh effects of Lyme Disease.
