Dale R. Harvey

Dale R. Harvey, 97, of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., formerly of Tecumseh and Lansing, Mich. passed away peacefully August 5, 2020, as he leaped into the arms of Jesus.  His last few months were filled with cares and pains of this earthly life, which are now forgotten. He is now where he longed to be his entire life: with his Lord and Savior, Jesus. We celebrate his life and rejoice in his home-going.

Dale served in the United States Army during WWII from 28 April 1944-7 March 1946. After his discharge he attended/graduated from Olivet Nazarene College (now university), Bourbonnais, Ill. He ministered in Clyde, Ohio, Church of the Nazarene before attending Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Then he ministered in churches in Astoria, Oregon and Tecumseh, Hastings, and Jackson, Mich. He received a graduate degree from Siena Heights (Adrian, Mich.) and began a teaching career (English, German, and guidance counseling) in the public schools where he lived. He was a life member in MENSA and enjoyed bowling.

He is the son of Alexander A. and Lucy B. Cox Harvey. He was born in Hutchinson, Kan., and raised in Kansas, Missouri, and Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, all eight of his siblings, and his son Mark Timothy aka Bryden Lam, and a myriad of nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughter Judith D. Harvey Bohlmann, his son Daniel Roger Harvey (Judy Martin), six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and just missed his first great-great-granddaughter, who is scheduled to arrive mid-September.

He was married to June L. Thomas, with whom he raised three children. He was also married to Lou Anne Swartz Harvey and Eleanor June Good Frederickson Harvey. His life was a series of graduations: high school, college, graduate school, and seminary…and now life itself. His interment is in Lenawee Hills Memorial Garden in Tecumseh.
