Darlene Helen Penterics

Darlene Helen Penterics, age 61, of Clinton, passed away on April 22, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 28, 1959 in Tecumseh to Wesley and Shirley (Bibbins) Whelan. Darlene was a graduate of Tecumseh High School and then Michigan State University with her bachelors in education. She married David Penterics on November 6, 1982. Darlene was a kindergarten teacher with Tecumseh Public Schools for over 30 years before retiring to take care of her grandchildren. She taught several generations of children and always remembered her students.

Darlene cherished the friendships she made with her colleagues as well as the connections with her students. She loved spending time with her family whether it was at home or at the pond. Family was very important to her and she considered her grandchildren to be one of her greatest gifts. Darlene enjoyed spending time outdoors; she cared for her flowers, watched her songbirds and took four-wheeler rides with Dave. She was a fervent supporter of her children, agriculture and the Michigan State Spartans.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 38 years, David Penterics; their children, Ryan (Jenna) Penterics, Katelyn (Kirk) Fulton and Davey (Carly) Penterics; brothers, David (Shanon) Whelan and Gordon (Laurie) Whelan; three grandchildren, Olivia, Evelyn and Wesley; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and many, many friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents.
