Darlene Kay (Brighton) Mead, 58, of Onsted, Mich., passed away at her home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024. Her family and friends gathered on February 8, at Eineder Funeral Home-Brooklyn Chapel, with Rosary. Her memorial mass was held on February 9 at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church. Fr. Zachary Maybee served as celebrant.
Darlene was born August 27, 1965, in Springville, Mich. to Lila Jean Brighton. She graduated Onsted High school in 1983, and went on to cosmetology school in Jackson. She operated and ran her own business for 38 years, Innovation’s Hair Salon, in Tecumseh, Mich. with business partners, Linda Thompson and Sandy Brodie.
Darlene married Mark in 1993 in Jackson, Mich., they had a daughter, Taylor with children, Lila and Violet; son, Boston with girlfriend, Jordan Richmond; brothers, Gary (Lisa), of Onsted, Butch (Ola), of Clinton, Donny (Elaine), of Tecumseh and Ronny (Cathy); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lila Brighton.
She was Boston’s biggest fan of his Sprint car racing, enjoyed gardening, being out on the lake, and most of all spending time with her grandkids.
