David Simpson

David Alexander Simpson, age 86 of Tecumseh passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021 at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital. He was born March 25, 1935 in Detroit, son of the late John Peden and Florence Dorothy (Friesa) Simpson. On May 3, 1958 in Matsudo, Japan, while serving in the military at Shiroi Air Force Base, he married his beloved Masako Ito and they shared 58 loving years together until her death on September 14, 2016.

David proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He could speak Russian and Japanese, and really embraced his new adopted culture, as well as his own Scottish and German heritage. He had also worked for Bendix Aerospace and worked on the Apollo Lunar Rover project. He retired from General Motors, Adrian. He loved flying his R.C. airplanes, golf, playing cards, the Seniors group, the American Legion, and all his friends. He really loved his children and grandchildren. They meant the world to him.

David is survived by his children, Sandra L. (William) Waddell of Ada, Mich. and Robert A. (Laura) Simpson of Plymouth, Mich.; grandchildren, Grant Waddell, Andrew, Daniel (Kelsey) and Joel Simpson; sister, Helene Ruhl of Tecumseh; and one great-grandson, Everett Owen Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Masako, and his brother John “Jack” Simpson.

In accordance to David’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a service at a later date. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Clinton.
