Donald W. Masserang

Donald W. Masserang, age 75, passed away October 21, 2025, under the compassionate care of Hospice of Lenawee. Don was born October 7, 1950 in Grosse Pointe, Mich. to Leo and Marion (Sanders) Masserang. He graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School, attended Eastern Michigan University for his B.A. and received a Master’s in Education from Wayne State University. Don dedicated his professional life as a special education teacher for 38 years in the Macomb Intermediate School District.
Don found joy in a variety of hobbies. He enjoyed gardening, bike riding and woodworking. He spent many hours volunteering at Hidden Lake Gardens working with the bonsai group, the conifer collection volunteers, trail building and maintenance, the Skywalk — wherever and whenever they needed help, Don was there. He was also an avid Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan.
Don is survived by his children, Meryl Schimek of Dallas, Texas and Nathan Masserang (Alex Kump) of Chicago, Ill.,; sisters Carol Naglich, Nancy Donnelly (John), Mary Ellen Lock (Jerry); sister-in-law Judy Masserang; many nieces, nephews and his partner, Carol Racine. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Masserang and brother-in-law, Joe Naglich.
Cremation has taken place with no services at this time. Friends can submit sympathies to family online by visiting the tribute wall at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home.
