Dorman Eugene “Gene” Frederick
Dorman Eugene “Gene” Frederick, age 88, of Tecumseh, passed away May 29, 2021.
Dorman was born on September 14, 1932 in Hudson, Mich., the son of Willliam and Mary (Roney) Frederick. He served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War. Gene retired from Tecumseh Products after many years of service.
He married Dorothy Mae Wood and she preceded him in death. He had two children, Dorman Eugene, Jr. and Doreen Edith Clark.
Gene was a family man who worked hard to provide for his family. He took great pride in his home. If something needed fixing with his house, car, etc., he would figure it out as he was a jack of all trades. His hobbies included tinkering in the garage, bowling and camping with his family and friends. He also enjoyed most sports, but was an avid Detroit Tiger fan.
Gene was an honest man where a deal was sealed with a handshake. He was very thoughtful and found ways to make you feel special. He was generous with his time, always offering to lend a hand. He had a great sense of humor and loved making people smile. Gene was a great father, brother and friend.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Doreen Clark (Dennis Younkin); grandchildren, James (Jasmin) Clark, Rachel Clark, Callie Clark and Garret Clark; two great-grandchildren, Isla and Lydia; and sister, Mary Effie (William) Boden.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, who he was married to for 39 years, he was preceded in death by his son, Dorman, Jr.; sister, Wilma Evelyn; and brothers, William Buster, James Norman and Richard Dale.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 4, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Pastor Eric Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh with military honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion and the Tecumseh VFW. Visitation will be 4-to-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be made online at pursefuneralhome.com.
