Dorman K. Pawson

Dorman Keith Pawson, “The Egg Man” of Tipton, Mich., passed away November 16, 2024.

He was born July 16, 1938, on Pawson Centennial Farm, Tipton, the son of Kenneth and Florene (Cooley) Pawson. On October 26, 1957 he married Jill Branch with whom he shared 67 wonderful years and she survives.

Dorman went to a one room country school, next to his house, until the 8th grade.

After 8th grade, he then attended Onsted High School, where he graduated in 1957. Dorman was a lifetime farmer alongside his wife, Jill. He was active in the 4-H and the FFA Alumni. Dorman and his wife, Jill, raised 6,000 chickens and delivered eggs all around the county for 45 years. They also had 1,000 pigs that went from the glitter in their eyes to the market. Dorman farmed several hundred acres of corn, wheat, and beans to feed his animals.

In addition to his wife, Jill, he is survived by a son, Troy of Tipton; two daughters, Karman (Kurt) Brighton of Tipton and Mary (Scott) Smith of Morenci, Mich.; three grandchildren, Samantha (Bobby) Feldkamp, Kelly (Jeremy) Lazarz, and Quinton Smith; three great-grandchildren, Lincoln Feldkamp, Karlie and Luke Lazarz; sister-in-law, Kathy Pawson; and brother-in-law, Chuck Shoemaker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald and Roger Pawson; and sister, Dorothy Williams.

Visitation for Dorman took place Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Tipton Community Congregational Church from 3- 7 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral service on Thursday, also at the church.

Funeral services will take place 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Tipton Community Congregational Church, with Pastor Fritz Kruse officiating. Final resting place will be at Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted, Mich., which will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Lenawee County FFA Alumni. Arrangements entrusted to Purse & Son Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Mich.
