Douglas L. Speller

On March 21, 1944, the kind and gentle hearted soul, Douglas Lee Speller entered this world. He was a lover of the outdoors, being on the water, Michigan football, dancing, music, being with people, and his dog, Martha, all dogs, really. He relished being with his kids and we are incredibly grateful for the love he gave us, and the sense of adventure he instilled in us. What he loved the most in life was his favourite son, Douglas Lee Speller II (Jennifer) of Pinckney, Mich., and his favourite daughter, Kimberly Ann Myers-Pinkel (Eric) of Lake Orion, Mich.; and his grandchildren, Caitlin Nowland, Tristan Myers, India, Rowen and Lucia Pinkel. He leaves behind his brother, Carl, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
He strove to find love in this world that was too often unkind, but he never let that take the kindness out of him. On November 28, 2024, he left this earth to join his parents, Walter and Alice; sisters, Katherine and Tiny; brother, Herb; and his beloved dog, Martha, who preceded him in death. We are filled with gratitude to have been unconditionally loved by him and honored to have called him Dad. He was a proud Navy veteran. A celebration of his life will be held at the Tecumseh American Legion on March 15 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenawee Humane Society.
