Fay D. Carswell

Fay D. Carswell, age 94, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away peacefully, May 9, 2024 at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born March 30, 1930 in Prestonburg, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Dolly (George) McKenzie. She was happily married to Roy W. Carswell for 34 years until he preceded her in death on June 21, 1981. Together they had three daughters, Rita (Roy) Edwards, Brenda Ely, and Rebecca, who died in infancy. Fay had five grandchildren, Shannon (Jim) Chambers, Rachel Sprinkle, Bryan (Michelle Alber) Ely, Jared (Kristi) Kime, and Miranda (Mai Chang) Kime. Fay also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, Kaden, Brandy, Tyler, Benjamin, Matthew, Aidyn, Samuel and Jaxon.

Fay raised her family in Tecumseh and went to work at Tecumseh Products for many years. She was a member of Tecumseh Missionary Baptist church. After the death of her husband she moved to N.C. to live with her best friend and sister, Billie Carswell. They enjoyed many years together, traveling, shopping and being active in their church, Victory Baptist. In 2017, she returned to Tecumseh to live with her daughter Brenda. The most important thing in life to Fay was her family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A private family memorial service took place on Saturday, May 18, at Purse Martinez Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Mich.

Final resting place is at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.
