George S. Tyitye
George Samuel Tyitye, 86, passed away on November 13, 2024, in Monroe Michigan surrounded by his loving family. George Samuel was born on August 10, 1938 in Detroit Michigan, to George and Elizabeth Tyitye. George married Patricia Stapish, (Tyitye) on January 9, 1960 at All Saints Church in Detroit. George is survived by his two children, Bryan (Linda) Tyitye and Tracy (James) Trigg. George has six grandchildren, Kristine, Kathleen (Steven) Moss, Kari and Kelle (Jeremy) Friedley, Season, and Alicen; and three great-grandchildren, Landyn, Parker, and Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Diann Kubik of Traverse City, Mich. George is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia Tyitye; father, George; mother, Elizabeth; sisters, Shirley, Irene, and Theresa; two infant sisters, both named Margaret Rose, Isabelle; and brothers, John, Joe, and Frank.
George enlisted in the Coast Guard on September 1955 and was honorably discharged in September 1961. George started his career as a fireman for Wabash Railroad in 1959 while completing his final two-year reserve Coast Guard service and went on to work as a locomotive engineer for 41 years. George was best known for teasing his family and friends in fun and being the center of attention. He liked to play cards, watch sports, and bowl. George will be greatly missed by his children, family and friends.
Visitation and viewing was held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Purse & Son Funeral Home, 210 W. Pottawatamie St., Tecumseh, Mich.
A scripture service for George Tyitye also took place Saturday, Nov. 16, at Purse & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. George’s final resting place will be at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Flat Rock, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in George’s name to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation, 1136 Country Club, Suite A, Adrian, MI. 49221.
