Gerry W. Cline

Please join us to celebrate the life of Gerry W. Cline who passed away June 26, 2026, in Stokesdale, N.C. He was born Sept. 28, 1959, in Ypsilanti, Mich., to Wilmar and Bernice (Olender) Cline. He is survived by his children, Kristi (Brian) McNulty, Carlos (Anna) Cline, Olivia (Nick) Ruffing, Kacy Cline and Cameron Bip (Amy) Cline. He is also survived by Charlie Steffens, the man he called “Dad”; his siblings Mary (Dan) Roy, Ted Cline, Carl (Patti) Cline, Mike (Joann) Steffens, Hans (Chantele) Steffens and his former wife of 35 years, Jan Cline, as well as eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He grew up in Michigan and attended Clinton High School, Washtenaw Community College and Eastern Michigan University. He was a retired mechanical engineer working for Tecumseh Products, General Motors, and Volvo Truck among others. He loved hunting, fishing, Detroit sport teams and NASCAR racing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmar and Bernice (Olender) Cline, Irene Steffens and Marianne Steffens as well as his siblings Billy and Clara Cline.

Gerry will be remembered for the love he shared, the memories he created and the lasting impact he had on those who knew him. Though he faced many challenges in life, he remained an important part in the lives of those who loved him. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of family, friends and all whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Gerry’s life will take place on Aug. 22, 2026, at the United Church of Christ, 300 Tecumseh Road, Clinton. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with service following at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to United Church of Christ.
