GLORIA P. SCHWARTZ

Gloria P. Schwartz, 83 of Tecumseh, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Herrick Medical Center, Tecumseh.  She was born November 8, 1924 in York, PA, the daughter of Amos and Veda (Mohler) Deal.  On August 24, 1947 she married Edwin H. Schwartz in Lutherville, MD and he preceded her in death on June 7, 2004
Gloria graduated from the School of Nursing at the York Hospital in York, PA as a Registered Nurse.  She was employed by United Bank and Trust as a teller for many years until retiring to enjoy time with her family and friends.  She was an active member in the Herrick Medical Center Auxiliary for many years.  Throughout her life, Gloria spent her happiest days surrounded by her ever grateful family, by cooking, baking, and nurturing them.  To have known her, is to have known what good cooking is all about.  During her final months, her caregivers loved her for the smile, charming wit and graciousness she bestowed on them.  Gloria was truly a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Gloria was a resident of the Tecumseh area since 1963 and is survived by her three sons; Jeffrey (Marie) Schwartz of Traverse City, MI, Douglas (Sandra) Schwartz of West Jefferson, NC and Thomas (Kathleen) Schwartz of Troy, MI, two daughters; Patricia (George Warren) Gould of Troy, MI and Kathlyn (Stephen) Ward of Hillsdale, MI, one brother Rev. Thomas (Annabelle) Deal of Luray, VA, twelve grandchildren, and three great grandsons.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers William and Jack and one sister Virginia Wantz.

Privately held memorial services will be held for the family at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Inurnment will take place immediately following in Brookside Cemetery Columbarium.
