Indian bowlers roll high games

Hardly a pin could be heard hitting the hardwood at Ten Pin Alley last Thursday, Feb. 7, with Tecumseh's varsity girls bowling team cheering each other on while defeating visiting Ann Arbor Huron.
It wasn't so much that the Indians were beating their opponents by such a huge margin, the excitement was generated from the high scores the girls were rolling in their final home showing this season. Tecumseh finished the night with a dominating 29-1 victory and recorded a regular game score of 1,067, the fourth highest in the state this season, to close out the contest.
The Indians, ranked number two in Division 2, have been a dominant opponent all season, going undefeated with ten consecutive wins to end the regular season.
Against Ann Arbor Huron, Tecumseh sophomore Kara Richard bowled a 255 high game while senior Whitney Hastings had a high of 226. Tecumseh had baker games of 184 and 195 and regular game scores of 898 and 1067.
Tecumseh's two game total of 1,965 also made the top five in the state. During the event, Hastings had a 432 series while Richard rolled 404 to lead the Indians.
In their previous contest at Chelsea against the Adrian Maples the Indians easily won 23.5-6.5.
The Indians had baker games of 159 and 142 and regular game scores of 942 and 726.
The strength of the Indians' varsity roster shined through against the Bulldogs with freshman Tawni Vollmer leading the way to the victory with a high game of 243.
The Indians' JV girls team is also having a phenomenal season with five straight wins and no losses.
Against Ann Arbor Huron the JVs won 28-2 with baker games of 148 and 112 and regular games of 719 and 688. Freshman Stephanie Oldeck led Tecumseh with a high game of 201.
The varsity Indians closed their season at Ann Arbor Pioneer on Monday and won 27-3. Tecumseh had baker games of 248 and 217 and regular game scores of 1033 and 1007. Richard led Tecumseh with games of 258 and 253. Hastings and Vollmer each had games of 221.
The end of the year Southeastern Conference tournament is set for Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Belleville, Lodge Lanes.
