Irene Marie Brown

Irene Marie Brown, age 83, of Tecumseh died on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021 at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. She was born September 4, 1937 in Tecumseh, the daughter of the late LaVern and Gladys Mae (King) Murphy.

Irene retired from Ford Motor Company in 1989 after 34 years of service. She was a member of the Tecumseh V.F.W. Auxiliary. Irene loved traveling, attending U-M football games and spending time with her family.

Irene is survived by her two sons, Steven (Tammy) Gruber and Douglas Gruber, both of Tecumseh; four grandchildren, Michael J. (Tiffaney) Gruber II of Tecumseh, Brian C. (Jennifer) Gruber of Adrian, Steven T. (Corinne) Gruber II of Cornelius, N.C. and Chelsea G. (Jacob) Schrot of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four great-grandchildren; nephews, Gary L. (Debi) Baker of Valrico, Fla. and Bobby (Cheryl) Bringman of St. Martinville, La.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Gruber; and siblings, Darrell Murphy, Evelyn Hicks and Verna Bringman.

Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in Brookside Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
