James A. Baker,

James Arthur Baker, age 80, of Onsted, Mich., unexpectedly was called home to the Lord on Saturday Feb. 28, 2026 at Trinity Health St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 12, 1945 in Hudson, Mich., a son of the late Robert Arthur and Inez Gertrude (Alexander) Baker. On September 25, 1965 he married Carol Jean Campbell and they have shared over 60 years together. Jim worked in maintenance for his whole career at various companies. He attended Grace Point Evangelical Free Church in Adrian. Most of his time was spent working but he was always ready to help someone who needed it and was willing to teach his skills of electrical and plumbing to anyone willing to learn. Jim loved sweets and was considered an expert on all things candy.

Along with his beautiful bride, Carol, he is survived by his three daughters, Amy (Craig) Emery of Adrian, Lori Campbell of Manitou Beach and Keri (Mark) Boss of Adrian; a sister, Lynette Kellogg of Mississippi and a brother, Larry (Deb) Baker of Tecumseh; six grandchildren, Chelsey (David Richardson) Boss, Ariel (Andrew) Lake-Emery, Emilee (Michael) Jones, Jacob (Morgan) Souders, Alexandria (Aliy Williams) Emery and Craig (Cana Gray-Lion-Polzin) Emery II and four great-grandchildren, Kyler, Hunter, Raleigh and Magnolia and many other extended family members. Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a brother, Donald Baker.

A funeral service for Jim will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Grace Point Evangelical Free Church in Adrian at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rhonda Baker officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow at Maple Shade Cemetery in Onsted. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation. Online condolences may be offered to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
