James Winzeler

James Robert Winzeler, age 94, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Cambrian Memory Care in Tecumseh, under the care of Optimal Care Hospice. He was born on December 18, 1931, in Britton, Mich., the son of the late Raymond M. and Harriet M. (Bashaw) Winzeler. On June 14, 1952, Jim was joined in marriage with Mary Jane Osburn at Grace English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, and they enjoyed over 73 years of marriage together before his passing.

Jim proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He was a lifelong farmer and worked at the Tecumseh Products as well as Ford Motor Co. at their Rawsonville Plant. He was a longtime member of the Tecumseh American Legion as well as the National Rifle Association. He also continued to be a faithful member of the church in Tecumseh where he was married, now known as Grace Lutheran Church. In addition to farming, Jim enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, camping, spending time at his cabin in Harrison, Mich., watching Westerns, gardening, and especially spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Mary Jane, Jim is survived by his children, Lynne (Tom) Elsner of Grayling, Mich., and Robert and William Winzeler, both of Tecumseh; six grandchildren, Edward (Julie) Elsner, Gordon (Vickie) Elsner, Michelle (Travis) Stenger, Jim (Lindsay Watkins) Winzeler, Jeffrey (Danielle) Winzeler, and Charles (Alicia) Winzeler; nine great-grandchildren, Carter, Emmett, Logan, Kelsey, Eliza, Lydia, Maddisyn, Lillian, and River. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Raymond and John Winzeler.

A funeral service for Jim will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Tecumseh at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026 with Pastor Eugene Andrus officiating. Visitation will begin at the church starting at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, with military honors performed under the auspices of the Tecumseh American Legion and VFW. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Jim may be made to Optimal Care Hospice or Tecumseh American Legion.
