Jane Gainey-Stevens
Jane Gainey-Stevens, age 70, of Ypsilanti, Mich., passed away at home on Thursday, March 6, 2025. She was born on March 4, 1955, in Laurinburg, N.C., the daughter of the late Marion Thomas and Marie (Morton) Gainey Sr. On July 22, 1992, she was joined in marriage to Rick Lynn Stevens, and they enjoyed over thirty-two years together. During her working years, Jane was employed as a supervisor at EXTang Industries.
Jane enjoyed her retirement playing pickle ball at the community center in Ypsilanti. She also enjoyed planting flowers in the spring, and she was especially fond of her cat.
In addition to her husband, Rick, Jane is survived by her sister Susan (John) Locklear of Red Springs, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Tommy, Richard and Mitchell Gainey; her sister, Hope Sommerlot; and her beloved cat, Trigger.
Visitation for Jane will be held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Wednesday, March 12, from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions in honor of Jane may be made to the Huron Valley Humane Society. Online condolences may be made to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
