Jason Jaime

TECUMSEH — Jason Elliott Jaime, age 55, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the University of Michigan Health-Ann Arbor. He was born on Dec. 29, 1970, in Saginaw, the son of John Jaime and Lorie Elliott. He went on to grow up in Tecumseh and graduate from Tecumseh High School. He attended Alma College on a football scholarship.

Jason was a gentle giant to all who knew him, and he was a loving father. From early on, sports were a big part of his life. He was honored as an All-State football player while in high school and was actively recruited by several colleges. Later, he went on to become the coach for his daughter Thea’s soccer team. He loved football, baseball and hockey. Jason had a great sense of humor and was known as a funny guy. At home he enjoyed his dogs, Maezie and Yara; cooking; and especially being with and loving his family.

Jason is survived and missed by many people, including his parents, John (Debbie) Jaime and Lorie Elliott; his dad, John LaGalo; his daughter, Thea Jaime; his fiancee, Anhelica Ortega; Thea’s mom, Winnie Maynard; step-daughters, Abagail and Ariell Barnes; stepsons, Michael and Connor Barnes; his siblings, Melissa Vogal, Sarah (Adam) Rehmeier, John-Matthew (Lori) Lagalo, Joey LaGalo and Christopher and Adam Jaime; aunts and uncles, Cathie and Jim Dries, Bonnie and Ron Vance, Christine and Kelly Luplow, and Dennis and Patti Jaime; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Cailynn Bates and her daughter, Angelina, and Toot Toot Singer.

Jason was preceded in death by his son, Seth Allen Maynard; his grandparents, Alejandra and Jesse Jaime, and James “Opa” and Juanita “Oma” Elliott.

A Celebration of Life followed by cremation was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Catherine King officiating. Visitation at the funeral home preceded the service, beginning at 2 p.m. The family asks that memorial contributions in honor of Jason be directed to the funeral home.
