Jerome E. Fischer

Jerome Edwin Fischer, age 96 of Tecumseh, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born October 10, 1927 in Adrian, the son of the late Harry Francis and Dorothy (Vogel) Fischer. On October 21, 1989 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, Ohio he married Janice Clara Blandford. They have been together sharing 36 wonderful years.

Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh for 35 years and enjoyed being a member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge. Jerry led a very active life and loved golfing, bowling and fishing. He was lucky enough to achieve a hole in one at his favorite course in Tecumseh. He and Janice also enjoyed going to casinos and traveling the country together. In addition, they spent many winters in their second home in Bradenton, Fla.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Michael (Karen) Fischer of Temperance, Mark (Heather/Kandi) Fischer of Sylvania, Doug (Pam) Fischer of Sylvania, Debi (Randy) Miller of Sylvania and Rob (Kathie) Ewing of Tecumseh; 11 grandchildren, Tanya (RJ), Ted (Emily), JJ (Marc), Chad (Kristy), Tara (Matt), Kayley (Steve), Rachel (Jake), Emily (David), Erika (Austin), Nathan and Alyssa; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Mary Fischer; granddaughter, Stephanie Miller; great granddaughter, Charlotte Timmons; siblings, Virginia, Walt, Theresa, Rose and Norma.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh. A funeral mass will follow at 12 p.m. with Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant. Military honors will follow the service under the auspices of the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
