JOSEPH VINCENT “PEPE” DOLCE

Joseph Vincent “Pepe” Dolce, 77, of Adrian, passed away, Monday, March 10, 2008, at his home.  He was born August 19, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to Cyrus and Angela (Trapani) Dolce.

Dad’s happiest memories were of his days in the Air Force during the Korean War. A member of the Air Force band, he was stationed at Selfridge AFB in Mt. Clemens, where he met his lifelong friends. Upon discharge, he studied cosmetology in Detroit and opened his first salon in Toledo in 1955. From 1955 until 1993, he cut hair and played in jazz groups, mentoring many young musicians along the way.

Dad will be most remembered for his warmth, a ready laugh, and a genuine love for people. He had a sharp mind for debate and a willingness to share his knowledge and wisdom. Dad’s legacy lies within all the people he has touched.

Pepe is survived by one son, Robert Dolce of Atlanta, GA: three daughters, Kim Dolce of Tecumseh, Dana Dolce of Adrian and Deidre Dolce of Tecumseh; one sister, Angela Kraniak of Long Island, NY; two granddaughters, Jennifer Dolce and Alina Dolce Underwood.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

At Joseph’s request, cremation has taken place.  There will be no public services or visitation.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Anderson Funeral Home.
