Kathleen (Kat) M. Nowell

Kathleen (Kat) Marie Nowell, 60, of Port Orange, Fla, was called home unexpectedly by our Heavenly Father in the early hours of April 23, 2026, at Halifax Hospital in Ormond Beach, Fla.

Born August 21, 1965, at Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh, Mich., Kathleen was the beloved daughter of Karen (Partridge) and the late Robert LeVeck. She grew up in Tipton, Mich., where she was a member of the Tecumseh Friends Church.

Kat enjoyed spending time with her grandparents, participating in 4-H, caring for animals – especially her horse, Gambit – reading, and being surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1983 and went on to take college courses while pursuing her many interests.

In October, 1994, Kathleen moved to Florida, beginning a new chapter of her life. Kat had an extraordinary servant’s heart – her laughter was infectious, her kindness magnetic, and her faith unwavering. To know her was truly to love her.

Kathleen married the love of her life, Charles Nowell, on February 25, 2012, in Port Orange. She assisted her husband with his business and worked in restaurant management and service throughout the years. Most recently, she worked at the Ormond Beach Police Department, where she was deeply valued and took great pride in her work.

Kat cherished time spent with her husband and friends – boating, shrimping, attending festivals (especially the Greek and Scottish-Celtic festivals), traveling to Michigan, and enjoying weekly game nights. Above all, she loved time at home with her husband and their little dog, Tito. Her greatest passion was cooking and baking for others; she was a truly talented and creative cook who found joy in sharing her food and hospitality.

Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Charles Nowell of Port Orange; her son, Devin Miller of Ormond Beach; her mother, Karen Partridge of Tipton; her brother, Dale LeVeck (Robin) of Adrian, Mich.; Michelle Shuman (Bryan), loved as a sister; her mother-in-law, Joyce Nowell of Holly Hill, Fla.; her father-in-law, Randy Nowell of Ormond Beach; and her stepsiblings Butch Partridge, Chris Partridge, and Penny Partridge, along with many aunts, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert LeVeck; her stepfather, Arnold Partridge; stepsister Cindy Jones; stepbrother Carey Partridge; and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Also, her furry children, Zeke, the Puppers and Kika kitty.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of Dudley Funeral Home, 1108 N. Dixie Hwy., New Smyrna, Fla. Services were held on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Kat’s light and love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
