Kim Underwood Platt

Kim Underwood Platt, age 63, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at her home. Kim was born on May 1, 1957 in Adrian, Mich., the eldest daughter of George Vincent, Jr. and Laura Kay (Manor) Underwood.

Kim was a 1975 graduate of Tecumseh High School. She went on to graduate from Adrian College with her bachelor of education and later received her masters. She taught first grade for many years and loved molding young minds. In addition to being a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Kim was very talented and artistic. She enjoyed decorating, cooking and gardening. Her sparkle and smile could light up any room.

Kim is survived by her mother, Laura Underwood of Tecumseh; sons, Jonathan Platt (Marilyn) of Harmony, Fla. and David Platt of Toledo, Ohio; their father, Steven Platt; her grandson, Jonathan Jax “JJ” Platt; her siblings, Kris (Guy) Cox and Rhonda Underwood, both of Tecumseh, Mich, George Underwood, III of Savannah, Ga. and Sheila (Craig Calvin) Underwood of Ann Arbor, Mich. Kim is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Guy Vincent (Teresa) Cox, Adam (Gwen) Cox, Laura (Brandon) Etlinger, Nicholas Jacob Underwood, Christopher Underwood, Brooke Underwood, Charlie Calvin and Cooper Calvin. Kim was preceded in death by her father; siblings, Kathy Underwood and triplets, Mary, Joseph and Kellie Marie; her grandparents, Felix and Thelma Manor and George and Helen Underwood; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Brookside Cemetery. Arrangements are private and under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Condolences may be made to the family at handlerfuneralhomes.com.
