Larrie R. Henkel

Larrie Rhae Henkel, age 66 of Tecumseh, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024 at his home. He was born September 9, 1957 in Tecumseh, the son of Richard L. and Sharon L. (Ost Henkel) Kanous.

Larrie graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1976. He was a member of the UAW and a recent retiree from General Motors. Larrie was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tecumseh and Ducks Unlimited. He loved hunting and was very proud of his trophy bucks. He enjoyed the time he spent with friends, family and especially his mom in the woods. He was great at sharing and teaching his experiences with others. He also enjoyed being out on the water fishing, boating or sailing. Over the years Larrie has taken care of so many different members of his family.

Larrie is survived by his son, Joshua Hunter Henkel of Tecumseh; father, Larry Kanous; sisters, Carrie Bonofiglio and her husband David of Okemos, and Sherrie Toth and her husband David of Kalamazoo; nieces and nephews, Jessica (Trevor) Wortman, Jacob (Jena) Toth, Spencer (Lauren) Bonofiglio, and Madison (Willem) Nong-Lambert; great -nephew, Oliver Nong-Lambert; and many close friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Henkel and Sharon Kanous.

Visitation for Larrie was held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. A celebration of life service followed with Darrell Bozeman officiating. Inurnment was in Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh.
