Lee A. Wagner

Lee Alan Wagner, 79, of Macon, died early Wednesday morning, November 19, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born April 8, 1946, in Tecumseh, Lee was the son of the late Lloyd and Stella (Downing) Wagner.
Lee was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Britton High School with the Class of 1964. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet Ball, on July 11, 1964, at the Dundee Methodist Church. Together they raised two children and built an incredible 61-year legacy of love and everlasting memories.
Following trade school, Lee worked as a brick layer for Local 2, where he dedicated 41 ½ years of hard work until his formal retirement in 2008. Lee was instrumental in the construction of numerous familiar commercial buildings in Ann Arbor and the surrounding area, including St. Joseph Hospital, buildings on the University of Michigan and Michigan Medicine campuses, Chelsea Hospital, and Milan High School. In 1980, he began what would be over 40 years of service as a member of the Macon Township board, serving as the Township Supervisor for much of that tenure. Also in the 80’s, Lee was very involved in the Lenawee County Fair, notably serving as sheep superintendent as well as a member of the Junior Livestock Board. Christian by faith, he and Janet have been longtime faithful members of the Britton Congregational Church.
Lee’s expertise in the trades made him very handy around home, and he was always quick to help a family member with any project. He had a lifelong love of snowmobiling, and shared many winter trips to Harrison with loved ones to stay at the family cabin and ride. In retirement, Lee took on the hobby of camping by travel trailer, and he and Janet enjoyed many years traveling the Country. Lee was a quiet yet social gentleman who was respected among many for his kindness, sincerity, and wise leadership.
Affectionately known as “Pa”, Lee leaves behind his wife, Janet; a daughter, Lana (Mark) McDowell of Holt, MI; a son, Jason (Ellie) Wagner of Manchester; his two brothers, Larry (Barb) Wagner and Louis (Barb) Wagner both of Britton; five grandchildren, Kate (Max) Hulliberger, Jacob (Anna) McDowell, Alex McDowell, Shelby (Nic) Tindall, and Max Wagner; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Liam and Noah; and his beloved Corgi at home, Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy, Donna Jean Wagner.
The family received friends for visitation at the Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh, on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, from 12 p.m. until the funeral service began at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jim Schenck will officiate.
