MANUEL L. DAVILA, Sr.
Manuel L. Davila, Sr., 79, of Britton, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at his home. He was born January 13, 1929 in San Benito, Texas, to Flumenico and Elena (Garza) Davila. He was married to Josefa "Josie" Mireles on August 1, 1952, in Angola, Ind., and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2007.
Manuel had worked for Tecumseh Products, retiring on January 31, 1994. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Guadalupe Society, and was a retired Fireman from the Ridgeway Twp. Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Manuel is survived by a daughter, Diana Villanueva and her husband, Albert of Britton; a brother, Juan and his wife Isabel, Davila of Lancaster, Texas; two half-sisters, Lydia and her husband Alfonso Aguirre of San Benito, Texas and Aurora Martinez of Houston, Texas; a grandson, Michael Ryan Davila; and two step-grandsons, Christopher Villanueva and Joseph Villanueva.
In addition to his wife, Josie Davila, he was preceded in death by a son, Manuel Davila Jr., his parents, a brother and three sisters.
The Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Bob Schramm presiding. Burial will be in Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 1448 Short St, Tecumseh, MI 49286, where a Vigil Prayer Service was held on Wednesday evening. Visitation will also be held on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral liturgy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
