Marjorie Monagin

Marjorie Monagin, age 86, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away July 23, 2024, at Cambrian Memory Care in Tecumseh.

Marjorie was born on March 27, 1938 in Adrian, Mich., the daughter of Michael and Arlene (Taylor) Papp. On July 12, 1958, she married Dale M. Monagin. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1998.

Marjorie was a graduate of Britton-Macon Area High School. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University.

Marjorie started her career as a teacher in a one-room school-house and went on to work several years for Britton-Macon Area Schools. Along with being a champion of Dundee Products, she owned her own business, Cardinal Metal, Dundee, Mich. Later in her retirement, she started a floral business, Ridge Roost, where she brightened countless weddings, funerals, and Christmases with her beautiful floral arrangements and festive wreaths.

Majorie is survived by two daughters, Lori Monagin and Jeni Monagin (Calvin Frear); two grandchildren, Taylor Benedict (Clemens Kreutzfeldt) and Maxwell Benedict (Shelby Hart); sister, Janet Miller; nephews, Darren (Tammy) Miller and Dan (Kristen) Miller; and great-nieces and nephews, Alex, Kevin, Sam, and Maddie Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; son, John; long-time companion, Kermit Pickell; daughter-in-law, Debora Monagin; and brother-in-law, Larry Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Purse Martinez Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Reverend H.F. Jack Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Macon Cemetery, Macon Township, Mich.
