Questions wording of proposal of upcoming millage for pool

To the Editor,

On March 8, there will be an election to renew a .25-mill levy that funds the Tecumseh Community Pool for five more years.

I did not support the pool originally because I thought it would be too expensive for the school budget. Now that we have it, it does deserve to be maintained. I think the taxpayers deserve a better explanation of how much they receive and how it is being spent. That is a topic for another day.

My issue is with the wording on the ballot. The city of Tecumseh recently asked us to vote on having chickens within the city limits. It did not say it  was for farmyard pets. It said chickens!

The Board of Education wants the proposal to say it is to operate a system of public recreation and playgrounds.

Let’s call it what Kelly Coffin says it is for - the pool!
