Rita Gayle Martin

Rita Gayle Martin, age 73, of Tecumseh, Mich., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020 at Toledo Hospital. Born in Allen Park, Mich., on January 5, 1947, Rita was the daughter of the late Peter and Nellie (Yonkus) Martin.

Rita raised her children in Canton, Mich., where, in 1974, she began her career at Plymouth-Canton Community Schools as a secretary, and retired in 2020 as an administrator. Rita moved to Tecumseh shortly thereafter. She loved to sing, work puzzles and paint. Rita also enjoyed watching game shows. Big Boy was her favorite restaurant, where she would rarely finish her meal, making sure she had room for dessert.

Rita is survived by her son, David (Lisa) Ringer, of Tecumseh; daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Andy) Stephens, also of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Mitchell (Shannon) Ringer of Onsted and their daughter, Eleanor; Jacob Ringer of Saline; Alyssa Ringer of Tecumseh; and Drake and Kade Ringer of Tecumseh. Also survived by sisters, Sandra (Gerald) Wagle of Brownstown, Mich., and Nancy Cantor of Clearwater, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Ringer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Vibrant Life Senior Living in Temperance, Mich. for the compassionate care she received while residing there.

In accordance to Rita’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority.
