Rosemary M. Walsh

Rosemary Murphy Walsh, age 86, of Tecumseh passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born in Tipton on January 30, 1938, the daughter of the late Wenton and Esther (Mackey) Murphy.

Rosemary graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1956 and went on to obtain a degree from Jackson Business College. She worked for several years as an executive secretary.

On January 16, 1959, Rosemary married Stephen D. Walsh at the Tecumseh Methodist Church and they were blessed with 58 years together until his passing on December 14, 2017. Steve and Rosemary made family their biggest priority with family gatherings and vacations.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Kathleen (Walsh) Karle of Tecumseh; Timothy Walsh of Tecumseh; Margaret “Peggy” (Walsh) Costello of Tecumseh; Tom (Megan) Walsh of Adrian; and Suzie Walsh of Paw Paw. She is also survived by her grandchildren which she treasured, Jason (Fina) Karle, Dylan (Kendra) Karle, Carly Costello, Claire Walsh, Sydney Walsh, Lily Walsh, Johnny Costello, Sophia Walsh, and Jacob Costello. As well as her great grandsons, Thaddeus, Jacob, and Zackary; and her step-grandchildren, Brecken and Charles. Rosemary is also survived by her brother, David (Betty) Murphy and sisters Judy Murphy and Carol Walsh, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rosemary was a life-long member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing with the choir. She was skilled at knitting, crocheting, and she spent many hours and lots of love making afghans and baby blankets for each one of her children, grandchildren, and countless others. She loved to read and to do crossword or jigsaw puzzles. Rosemary loved animals and spending time in her yard. She loved her gardens and most of all, loved watching her family enjoy time together. Many neighbors were friends as well and were familiar with seeing her out working in her yard with her German Shepherd, Bo.

Visitation for Rosemary was held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral service for Rosemary followed. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh.
