Susan A. Hurst

Susan Ann Hurst, resident of Britton, Mich. and graduate of John Glenn ‘82, unexpectedly passed away on March 25 at her happy place, Forever Acres Farm.
Born in Wayne, Mich. on February 2, 1964 to the late and beloved Melvin Ray and Theresa Mary (Pilachowski) Boone, Susie was raised in a close-knit Polish family where she enjoyed polka dancing and traditional polish foods. Her family describes her as unique, creative, passionate, and loving. Their fondest memories of her include coaching cheer, hosting pool parties, birthday parties, and cooking for the family holidays. Her love for fashion, design and antiquing always put a special touch on any occasion she had a part in.
Susie’s dreams and aspirations led to many successful chapters in life. In 2019, Susan and Kevin purchased Forever Acres Farm, inspired by her love for animals and farming. Susan and her husband have dedicated the last five years creating and sharing their happy place with the Britton community through farmer’s markets, school field trips, tractor shows, and apple and pumpkin picking. At the end of the day Susan’s biggest joy was dreaming and planning the future of the farm with her husband after a long day’s work.
Her life and legacy will be carried on by her dedicated husband of 36 years, Kevin Hurst; children, Derek (Dr. Katie Martin) Hurst, Amanda Hurst, and Aaron (Michael) Ferranti-Hurst; brothers, David (Julia) Boone, Donald (Molly) Boone, and Mark Boone; and granddaughter, Olivia Hurst.
Susie found peace at Forever Acres Farm and she found caring for her animals and connecting with community. She made it known that “even wild horses couldn’t pull me away from my happy place.” In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Susie to continue her legacy.
