Thomas A. Jacoby

Thomas A. Jacoby, age 93, of Tecumseh, Mich., went to be with his Lord and join his beloved wife, Susan on August 19, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1933, in Fort Wayne Ind., son of the late Leroy and Marguerite Jacoby. On August 29, 1953, he married the love of his life, Susan Jane Sanders, in Auburn, Ind., and they shared over 71 years together.

They found their forever home on Ternes Road in Tecumseh, raising their family, making lifelong friends among their neighbors and contributing to the community. He was a member of Tecumseh First Presbyterian Church for 72 years.

Married after his sophomore year at Purdue University and graduating with a degree in electrical engineering, Tom came to Tecumseh Products Company to work and raise their family. During his 39-year career there, he rose to become director of engineering and then moved on to serve as president of Tecumseh Products International Division. In that role, he traveled and made great friends all over the world. He was especially proud of his work developing the French Connection student exchange program between Tecumseh fifth and sixth graders and those in LaVerpilliere, France. In 1994, Tom was honored at Purdue University with the Electrical Engineer of the Year award.

In 1969, Tom and Susan purchased a summer home on Wamplers Lake, and they lived there during the summer months. The Cottage was Tom’s pride and joy, where he built and organized a wonderful gathering space for family and friends. A very good water skier himself, he spent many happy hours driving the boat, teaching many children to ski and pulling them on various towables. He also enjoyed swimming, going to Jerry’s Restaurant every Friday, and serving on the Lake Association Board. After a hard day of play or work around the cottage, he could be found relaxing in his chair at the lakeshore, enjoying his happy place.

When he retired in 1995, Tom and Susan also enjoyed spending winters in Jensen Beach where they made many new friends. He loved that Florida place, too, where he was able to swim in the pool, go to the beach, go out with friends and have family visit as well.

Tom and Susan were great sports fans, following Purdue football and basketball. For many years, they had season football tickets, and he drove the whole family to stay at the Student Union for the weekend. Tom was a member of the Tecumseh Fan Club and Jaycees. He served on the Herrick Hospital board for many years.

Tom is survived by his three children, Pam (Rick) Bunch of Tecumseh, Kent (Sherry) Jacoby of Lake Orion, Mich. and Eric (Kahrlly) Jacoby of Tecumseh; five grandchildren, Kelly (Neil) O’Donnell, Keith (Heather) Jacoby, Dan (Shannon) Bunch, Craig (Sandra) Jacoby, Kristin (Richard) Walden; great-grandchildren, Tess and Kate O’Donnell, Ryan, Charlie, Connor, and Vivienne Bunch, Max, Cal, Audrey, Grant, Remy and Madalynn Walden, Hollis and Rylan Jacoby, Amy Gregory and Anthony Gregory, and five Gregory great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of Tom’s life will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with visitation from 1-2:45 p.m. and service at 3 p.m. A celebration dinner will be held at the church following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh or Re-Tree Tecumseh.
