Thomas W. Woodward

Thomas Walter Woodward, of Jasper, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2024, while surrounded by his family at the ProMedica Toledo Hospital. Tom was born on November 6, 1949, in Adrian, the third oldest of Clinton and Helen (Sallows) Woodward’s five children. He was a graduate of Blissfield High School and Michigan State University where he earned a degree in agriculture. Tom was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he proudly served with the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, of the 1st Calvary (Airmobile). After being together for twenty-four years, on April 1, 2002, Tom and Carolyn Bowling were joined in marriage in Riga, Michigan.

Tom worked for General Mills/Smucker’s in Toledo, Ohio, as a forklift driver for over 30 years before retirement. His family will remember him as being a “jack of all trades,” including woodworking and tinkering with anything he thought that needed to be repaired. Tom enjoyed spending time on his family’s farm fixing whatever needed to be tended to and caring for the land. As a Harley Davidson enthusiast, he loved spending time on his motorcycle. Above all else, Tom will be remembered for being a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

Left to cherish Tom’s memory is his loving wife of 46 years, Carolyn; their children, Leigha (Brandon) Murphy, Koda Woodward, and Larissa (Joseph) Song; siblings, Nancy (Larry) Dangler and Mary Woodward; three grandchildren, Athena Murphy, Alexander Murphy, and Faye Song; including extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Woodward; sister, Sandra Miller; and grandson, Xavier Murphy.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, from 12- 3 p.m. at Coach Light Estates, 650 W. Adrian St., Blissfield, Mich.
