Verla G. (Russell) Albring

Verla Geneva (Russell) Albring, age 92, of Britton Mich., passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026 at Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian, Mich. She was born on November 26, 1933 to Louis and Viola (Gross) Russell of Millbury Ohio. She was the youngest cherished daughter of eight loving children. They always had good food, laughter and song in the air.
She graduated from Lake County High School in 1951. She worked for Rossford Ordinance during WWII and Monroe Bank & Trust. On July 21, 1956, she married Beryl E. Albring from Temperance, Mich. They were faithful members of the Congregational Church and Grace United Methodist Church, both in Britton. They bonded with lifelong friends and neighbors in the county Farm Bureau and Homemakers Extension group. She lived a full and active life and found joy in the simple things she loved most. She was an avid bowler for the Women’s Coffee Bowling League for over 70 years. Verla was bowling into the final weeks of her life and was known throughout her career as the split queen. She spent lots of time swimming and maintaining the farmstead. One of her greatest joys was the farm she and her husband purchased in the 1960s, where she built a life filled with memories, family, and hard work. The farm was truly home to her, and she loved the life they created there together.
She is survived by her four children, Barbara Neitman, Paul (Kim) Albring, Darlene (Steve) Barnard, and Carol (Jerry) Herkimer; 12 grandchildren, Crystal (Duane) Berns, Nicole (Kyler) Omey, Matthew (Katherine) Neitman, Joshua Albring, Jacob Albring, Autumn Albring, Samuel (Ana Miroski) Barnard, Joseph (Skylar Hazlett) Barnard, Grace Herkimer (Caleb Ruetz), Andrew (Macy Salenbien) Herkimer, Benjamin (Autumn Kimple) Herkimer, Camron (Hannah) Herkimer; nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Verla was preceded in death by her seven siblings and beloved husband Beryl, as well as a great and a great-great-grandchild.
