Wilbur Christian Hanselman

Wilbur Christian Hanselman, age 77, of Tecumseh, MI died Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Hospice of Lenawee Home.  He was born May 13, 1943 in Ann Arbor, the son of the late Wilbur Edward and Mildred Charlotte (Krumrei) Hanselman.  On April 4, 1970 in Royal Oak, he married Barbara Jean Wyant and they shared 50 years together.

Wilbur proudly served his country in the US Air Force.  In 2003 he retired from Ford Motor Company after 25 years as an Engineer.  He was a member of the Grand Lake Community Church in Citra, FL, Saline Masonic Lodge and the Tecumseh Country Club for 21 years.  He loved playing the guitar and the mandolin, playing with a local group.  Wilbur loved helping neighbors build garages and family rooms. He loved being on the golf course, fly fishing and doing woodworking.  He held a private pilot’s license and was a flight instructor.

Besides his wife, Barbara, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Christian (Nancy) Hanselman of Chelsea and Daniel Louis (Jan Edwards) Hanselman of Tucson, AZ; sister Joyce Hanselmann of Saline; two grandchildren, Christian Donald (Taylor) Hanselman and Julia Grace Hanselman; one great granddaughter, Cedar Rose Hanselman; and a large extended family in Washtenaw County. 

 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Stone.

In accordance to Wilbur’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be at a later date.  Inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dexter.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.  Arrangements are under the care of the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes.
